We were recommended this restaurant by a friend at work. She said that they had the best Thai food she has tasted. That made a good excuse for my husband and I to enjoy a date night.

Kinn Thai is located in the Laneway at Westfield Shopping centre at North Lakes. We have walked past it many times. The Laneway is a lively collection of restaurants and cafes close to the cinemas. The best parking for Kinn Thai is actually up on the rooftop, near the cinemas. Just need to take the travellator down to the Laneway.

It was Friday evening when we decided to dine here and I was grateful for making a booking online as it became very busy.

Kinn Thai has both indoor and outdoor seating options. We were seated outdoors which was quite nice, with the lights and the outdoor water garden.

A lovely spot to sit back with a glass of wine (BYO-$3/person corkage) and peruse the menu. They are fully licenced and have quite an extensive drinks menu including a number of cocktails.

The menu is quite varied including some different dishes to the usual Thai restaurants we have visited in the past. They cater well for all dietary choices with specific vegetarian and kids options.

For entree, we started with Crab Prawn Rolls (spring rolls x4) with plum sauce ($6) and Kinn Duck Pancakes (Roasted duck breast, cucumber, shallot wrapped in house made rosemary pancakes)

The pancakes were our favourite, very tasty and a little different.

For main my husband and I shared Pad Cha Seafood - spicy stir fry seafood, green peppercorns, kachai, kaffir lime leaves, chilli and turmeric ($24) and Crispy Barramundi fillet with 3 flavoured sauce for $25.

I really enjoyed the Barramundi but both dishes were tasty and quite spicy, just the way we like it.

We didn't wait for long for our meals to come to the table. The wait staff were also very attentive, clearing away dishes and keeping the water and wine topped up.

They don't separate bills, and if paying by visa or MasterCard there is a minimum of $25. Apparently "Kinn" means "eat" in Thai and that is what we did. Not sure if it is the best Thai food that we have eaten, but certainly up there near the top.
