With an extensive all day breakfast menu, Kinky Lizard caters for vegetarian and gluten free diets as well as your 'little humans'.

At a recent visit, I strayed from the usual eggs Benedict in favour of the 'keep it green': avocado, asparagus, eggs how you choose and mushrooms on toast. Speaking of gluten free diets, there's only one thing I truly miss: crusty white bread. The gluten free toast that came with the dish was so good I had to check twice that it was actually gluten free.

Kinky Lizard has created its own blend of rich coffee and it is consistently good. I'm going to risk jinxing myself here but I've never had a bad one in the couple of years I've been coming here. Recently they introduced a cold drip variety. A smooth, cold and very refreshing way to get caffeinated, with or without milk.


On a weekday the Kinky Lizard is much quieter, Saturday morning is busy but the service doesn't suffer. The coffee and meals came quickly although not at the same time.

It accommodates small groups well, however the layout has tight corners and tables that are quite close together which could make it difficult to navigate with a pram or wheelchair. Try for a table on the front path instead.


Located at the quiet end of Royal Street in East Perth, the Kinky Lizard is a real gem. It's one of those places one wants to shout about because it's great value and a lovely location but also keep it a secret so it doesn't become like its rivals down on the boardwalk.
