Don't miss this strictly limited season
The G&S Society of SA proudly presents the South Australian premiere of Kinky Boots this spring! Tickets are now on sale for this Tony, Grammy and Olivier award-winner!

Directed by Gordon Combes with musical direction by Paul Sinkinson, associate musical direction by Peter Johns and choreography by Sarah Williams, Kinky Boots promises to be a fantastic night out for young and old alike!

Kinky Boots is based on the 2005 motion picture starring Joel Edgerton and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Music & Lyrics by Cyndi Lauper. Book by Harvey Fierstein.

Based on true events, this huge-hearted hit tells the story of two people with nothing in common - or so they think!

Charlie is a factory owner struggling to save his family business. Lola is a fabulous entertainer with a wildly exciting idea. With a little compassion and a lot of understanding, this unexpected pair learns to embrace their differences and creates a line of sturdy stilettos unlike any the world has ever seen! But in the end, their most sensational achievement is their friendship.

Presenting Kinky Boots has been a long-cherished dream of director Gordon Combes - "When I saw the film in the mid-2000s I fell in love the story and the characters. I was touched by the realism of the story and what these characters had gone through. I loved that this story was based on true events and these characters lived these experiences. It was in 2013 when I first heard the musical recording and from that moment I had a real connection with the show and wanted the opportunity to bring it to life in Adelaide."

Kinky Boots features Ian Andrew (teacher, performer, composer, pianist, musical director and lecturer and former performer with the G&S Soc. of SA) as Charlie Price and Ron Abelita (part of the vocal group The Four Seasonings) as Lola.

These talented performers are supported by Jemma McCulloch, Ruby Pinkerton, Warren Logan, Vanessa Lee Shirley, Dharini Rajaramanan, James McCluskey-Garcia, 'The Angels', a hard-working ensemble with Henry Tran & Daniel McGowran as Young Simon and Cohen McRae & Sebastian Cocks as Young Charlie.

Naturally, each production presents its own unique challenges. The challenge of Kinky Boots was providing each member of the cast with their own pair of 'kinky boots'! Along with elaborate costuming and shoe travelators, the show will be a visual delight.

Kinky Boots is refreshing in that the story is based on true events and real people. It draws you in straight away, connecting you with the characters and their highs and lows, and ultimately reminds us that "You can change the world when you change your mind!"
