2011 has been a royal year indeed, Kate and Wills joined in royal matrimony and recently the Queen royally toured our shores. Now its time for you to get your Royal on in none other than north west New South Wales.
Manicured gardens maze beyond the walls of Kings Plains Castle as lush green foliage drip from the castles' façade. Lavender fills the air and a scene resonating classic royal glamour is created in rural Australia.
Surprised that New South Wales was harbouring such a castle in its vast bush land and immediately taken aback by the beauty of the surroundings, this castle - come bed and breakfast is catering for your perfectly majestic romantic escape.
Kings Plains Castle is located on 4.5 acres in Glenn Innes, a scenic 8 hour drive from Sydney. The 28 room and three story castle was built in 1908 by George Vivers and is said to be built as a reminder of his Scottish heritage.
Inside, the castle is furnished with period pieces collected over the years, each room made unique by its hand picked décor. Although all rooms are comfortable you can choose from budget to Deluxe and King rooms. The King room is the finest in the castle and according to the grounds keeper, has had its share of royal visitors.
Dinner can be arranged or you can bring your own food and beverages. Complementary tours can be taken of the grounds and castle, providing a rich history of the area and its people who have lived and worked the castle through its existence.
Bookings are essential as Kings Plains Castle fills up with wedding parties. Although this is the case, when I arrived at the castle, we were lucky enough to have no one else staying and was up graded to the King Suite. Making me feel every part the queen I know I can be.
