was voted "Best Beach Resort" in Australia by 'Discovery's Travel Channel' and has won six Australian Tourism and nine Queensland Tourism Awards. You can stay in a: hotel room, one bedroom loft villa, two bedroom standard villa, two bedroom spa villa, two bedroom loft villa, three bedroom spa villa, executive villa, house, lodge. (For more information on accommodation options, click here ).

We personally stayed in a 2 bedroom standard villa, which was equipped with a fully equipped kitchen, full laundry facilities, a colour TV (with DVDs for you to watch), Foxtel (which definitely kept me occupied during a tropical cyclone!), bath/shower, hair dryer, air conditioning and an iron.

The resort offers 5 options for dining, from a fine dining restaurant with a view, to simple cheese platters while you sit underneath a jetty hut; the choice is yours. I thought the restaurants were going to be a lot more expensive than on the mainland (Don't forget that Fraser Island is an island after all!), because they have to import all their food. To my great surprise, however, they were about the same price as on the mainland.

Needless to say, we supported the small island's economy and ate every meal at a restaurant (when we could've brought raw food into our room and cooked everything from scratch). (For more information on dining options, click here )

The resort also offers a range of cruises, eco tours and education tours at additional price. We went on their most popular "Beauty Spots Tour", which was a custom designed four-wheel drive that took you to the top natural attractions of Fraser Island. The tour also included a tour guide and a buffet lunch. Don't forget to bring your swimmers with you on this tour, almost every stop calls for a dip in the pristine ocean.

The resort also has activities running for the whole day, some are free and some are at an additional cost. They print all these activities out in their weekly schedule with all the information you need including time, place to meet and cost (if any).

They also have a village centre for you to stock up all your essentials, or even do a bit of souvenir shopping.

Best of all, the resort offers multiple daily barge services that leave from River Heads (mainland) right to the door of the reception. There is no fuss in it whatsoever!

Whether you're travelling with your family, a group of 50 other young travellers or staying in Fraser Island for a conference, has all the facilities and services to cater for everyone on the island that's made up of only sand.
