Freelance writer from Brisbane exploring the city and surrounds to find the best coffee

Kingaroy is a beautiful little town to visit on a weekend, located two hours from Toowoomba and three from Brisbane. With the current drought affecting local businesses, a visit is a great way to support the community, as well as enjoying a day out in the country.
Our family did lunch at the Kingaroy RSL after a morning of driving and exploring, and had a great steak and a beer at the Long Tan Bar. This RSL has great country service and friendliness on its side as well a proud military association.

The service was fast, in spite of the restaurant being an extremely popular local eatery, and the steak was delicious, with the sauces being particularly good. There was a large menu for most tastes and drinks options were plentiful.
If you're living or working in the area and need a space for an event or a traveller looking for a chilled out lunch, Kingaroy RSL is a great option with excellent steaks and good service.
