A touch of culture
Housed in the iconic Art Deco building
Looking for a touch of culture? Needing to feed your creative side? Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery might be just the thing. Housed in the iconic Art Deco building which was once home to the former Kingaroy Shire Council Chambers and located directly opposite the iconic Kingaroy Peanut Silos, the gallery showcases a variety of work in differing media and caters to all age groups and styles.
Month long exhibitions from both local and visiting artists and crafts people are displayed and the gallery is always interested in hearing from new artists wanting to create their own exhibition. Exhibition openings can be arranged with catering facilities onsite and the gallery welcomes the opportunity to host an opening and will do what they can to ensure its success, including inviting local press.
Locally Pottery and Ceramics
Being the first dedicated public art space within the South Burnett region, this gallery has always shown a commitment to innovation. It was the first within the region to provide art training and workshops. The craft shop works to provide locals and visitors alike with the opportunity to view the best of local craft and handy work. Including pottery, textiles, knitting and crochet, needlework, jewellery, and sculptures of various medium.
A variety of Craft Work on display
Themed exhibitions are often featured and various art competitions are held throughout the year. The gallery boasts an innovative electronic Youth Design studio and gallery to encourage the next generation of local artists. Digital media is becoming more prominent both in the field of digital photography and graphic art design work. Workshops are held for students, particularly during school holidays and pieces are displayed in the dedicated Youth Gallery.
Unique Echidna Sculpture
The Gallery is part of the busy Kingaroy Information Art and Heritage Precinct which relies heavily on the assistance of volunteers, both in the front line and behind the scenes. Volunteers receive newsletters, invitations to openings and special events. They are able to take advantage of discounts in the Visitor Information Centre Shop as well as being able to take part in Familiarisation Tours to places of interest with the district and South East Queensland.
Located opposite the Iconic Kingaroy Peanut Silos
A visit to the Kingaroy Information Art and Heritage Precinct wouldn't be complete without checking out the Art Gallery. With such a variety of work encompassing many different media, there really is something for everyone and every taste. Purchase a work of art or craft, or just feel the inspiration to create your very own masterpiece. Whatever your style, I am sure you will find something to please.
