A stay at home Mum who doesn't stay at home much; too many exciting things to be discovering in this city...
Get your glow on at this spectacle in the skies
Brown Brothers are a top notch, family-owned company based in Milawa who have been making wine since 1889. In June they will be strutting their stuff at the King Valley Balloon Festival by presenting the feature event; Brown Brothers Night Glow. If the photos are anything to go by, this event looks to be spectacular by anybody's standards.
The King Valley Balloon Festival is held over the Queen's Birthday Weekend (7th – 10th June). Throughout the long weekend, a plethora of hot air balloons will be taking off, with mass ascensions of balloons launching from opposite Brown Brothers Milawa Vineyard, on all four days of the festival from 7am. Since it's bound to be chilly at this ungodly hour, tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be available for purchase as well as an egg & bacon breakfast BBQ. Besides balloons, there will also be a variety of entertainment on offer such as live music with Cutest Little Monster, jumping castles and face painting.
Brown Brothers Night Glow promises to be a unique experience comprising an eye-popping array of hot air balloons which will light up the night sky and perform a choreographed piece of movement to music, while tethered to the ground. This will all be happening between 4pm and 8pm on the Saturday (8th June). Brown Brothers will also be hosting a huge bar area with a range of Brown Brothers wines, local beer and cider. There will also be mulled wine, soft drinks and water available for purchase.
Tickets for this event must be bought online in advance – there will be no ticket sales on the door (in fact there probably won't even be a door…). For the Night Glow event only, tickets cost $20 for adults. Kids are free although you can buy a wristband which entitles them to two glow sticks and unlimited jumping. You can also buy a combination of bus and event tickets so that you can make the most of the Brown Brothers bar. More details can be found here. If you want to take it one step further you can balloon watch in style at the VIP Cocktail Party. This will take place from 6pm until 8pm and offers elevated, uninterrupted views of the airfield from which the balloons lift off. Canapés, drinks and entertainment are included in your ticket which costs $85.
If you fancy doing something a little different over the long weekend, put on your warmest thermals and make your way to Milawa for a stunning display of colour and light.
