Imagine a world hidden underground with a mystical feel, and beauty begging to be discovered… well, King Solomons Cave is just that! It is a world like no other, with beauty that must &
#8206 ;be seen with a magical sense.&
#8206 ;
King Solomons Cave is a small, dry cave that is located in Liena not too far from
Mole Creek which is &
#8206 ;approximately one hour drive from Launceston; the scenic and relaxing drive leads you to a world &
#8206 ;of one of nature's best creations.&
#8206 ;
King Solomons Cave is absolutely spectacular. It is filled with various formations of limestone that &
#8206 ;started to evolve some 400 million years ago. And as you look at the calcite crystal deposits you cannot &
#8206 ;help but feel like they resemble diamonds, as they sparkle and twinkle. &
#8206 ;
As we continued admiring the beauty and being mesmerised by &
#8206 ;the sparkles on the lavish coloured formations of the abundance of reflective calcite crystals, a thought hit me- the &
#8206 ;name of the cave suddenly became clear as an image of King Solomon keeping watch &
#8206 ;over his diamonds shadowed over me in this magical cave and the reason behind the cave's name &
#8206 ;became apparent.&
#8206 ;
King Solomons Cave was first discovered by two local men in 1906 and the first cave tour to operate &
#8206 ;visitors had to negotiate a 40 ft drop from the surface via a series of stepladders, and thence &
#8206 ;through the cave on wooden planks. However, today we are guided through a side entrance with &
#8206 ;no dropping or planking!&
#8206 ;
Our guide was wonderful, she explained everything so well and gave us interesting facts that will &
#8206 ;not be forgotten. The way she spoke about King &
#8206 ;Solomons Cave was passionate and it made the tour experience more enjoyable and left you &
#8206 ;wanting to come back to visit this beauty time and time again.
&
#8206 ;
If you are a cave enthusiast, a nature lover or just simply want to experience something magical then be sure to visit this wonderful cave; as the beauty is breathtaking and it is certainly a must add to your &
#8206 ;activity list. &
#8206 ;
There are four tour times throughout the day and the tour is around 45 minutes to an hour. It is &
#8206 ;suitable for all ages and fitness levels- do note that at some parts of the tour the path becomes &
#8206 ;really tight and squashy as well as the temperature dropping, making it quite cold inside. &
#8206 ;
Tickets to the tour can be purchased at King Solomons Cave or at the sister cave Marakoopa Cave. &
#8206 ;Both cave tours can be combined and are approximately a 15 minute drive apart. &
