King O'Malley is one of the many eccentric local politicians from back in the day. I do think he'd like his namesake pub - but who wouldn't?



often features excellent live music (often folk-y) and is complete with dusty articles from someone's attic, lots of real wooden furnishings, nooks and crannies galore, and a stone fireplace. The people who go there are the kind you'd like to meet - backpackers from around the corner, and musicians who are as much a part of Canberra's heart as King O'Malley himself. One group of string musicians simply hangs out and plays there for fun every so often - and they're brilliant, too: the perfect accompaniment to a tall glass of Baileys.



It's right near the bus interchange - easy to find and even easier to love.
