I love exploring strip shops. Especially when you discover a gorgeous cafe with magnificent food, great coffee, service and modern atmosphere. And that is what you find at the King Bean at Shop 7, Wantirna Mall, 348 Mountain Hwy, Wantirna, Victoria, Australia 3152



This gem of a cafe is tucked away in the shops at Mountain Hwy, right off Boronia Rd and has become a favourite for myself and my friend Lauren. And the chef is happy to change the menu up for allergies, which I find so refreshing.



I ordered the Gourmet Ravioli with pumpkin, three cheese with delicious Parmesan cheese crisps and it was a triple taste treat.
And these were monster decadent and packed full ravioli, not tiny puffs. And it was only $13.50. This is fine dining at fast food prices. King Bean is a stand out cafe and I have gone out of my way to go back for this treat.

Lauren had the Arancini balls with a light fresh salad. I was not sure who got the better dish as both were delish.



The coffee is local Cottle Coffee from South Melbourne and is smooth and creamy. They also cater for organic tea and chia. There is a reasonable wine menu as well. And for a treat, the little ones can have a Babychino.

There are three food options to tempt kids taste buds all under $9.00. Fresh, delicious and beats fast food all the way around for both nutrition and taste.

And breakfast is served all day long. Feast on Eggs Benedict, Florentine or just a good old fashion total fry up - the 'Big Bean" or the "Veggie Bean". Gluten-free options are also available and Diary Free options are on the go too.

They have a lovely alfresco ambience so you can sit inside, outside under spacious umbrellas, or halfway. Dogs are welcome outside.



They mix the menu up over winter and summer for fresh local produce. And don't forget to check out the specials board for their focaccia of the day.

If you have a sweet tooth, well you want to head directly to this "sweet" cafe for their tempting selection baked fresh and on display.

The strip shops are quite nice to browse as well with local fresh produce, flowers, op shops and an IGA. This is worth a stop if you are in the Vermont, Boronia, Wantirna or Bayswater area. Fab food, wonderful service and great prices. Actually, make a special trip and check it out from wherever you are. It is worth it.

Also, they cater for private functions at excellent value for the money in the evenings for up to 15 people. Have the whole place to yourself. This would be a wonderful choice for a birthday or anniversary.
