Halloween fun for little ones
Looking for a not so scary Halloween activity to treat the kids? Then Kindy Spooktacular is the event for you. Campus Kindergarten at UQ St Lucia invites your family to this Halloween carnival on Sunday October 27th from 2 to 5pm.

Halloween - Kindy Spooktacular

Now in its fourth year, this annual event is becoming well known for its warm and cheery family-friendly atmosphere. Even the smallest of Brisbanites can have the opportunity to participate in Halloween festivities without the scare factor. Instead of seeing ghastly ghouls you're more likely to find wacky witches, pretty pumpkins or gleeful ghosts.

A range of activities will be on offer for kids, from creative craft projects to physical games. Try snagging a witches' hat at the hat ring toss, navigate your way through the ogre obstacle course, or be prepared to be chilled to the bone in the icy snow zone. Look out for the Halloween decorations in a hide-and-seek adventure style game of where's mummy. Plus the carnival fun of (spooky town) bouncing castles and (Frankenstein's) face painting will feature during the afternoon. The full list of activities can be found here.

Participants are encouraged to dress up and pretend to be someone else for the day. Special treats will be awarded to those participants who choose to come in fancy dress. Please note that scary costumes are strongly discouraged due to the age range of participants. Costume ideas can be found here.

Food will be available for purchase on the day via the spooky snack shack, of course with a Halloween twist. Visitors are also welcome to pack their own picnic, although it is important to note that the kindy is a nut-free environment.

Being hosted by a kindergarten makes this an extremely family friendly event. Special toddler-friendly aspects including pram parking and a rest area for kids who like to settle down for a quiet afternoon nap have been thought of. As the funds raised go towards educational resources for the kindy kids your afternoon of fun will go on to benefit a whole community. Check out the Campus Kindergarten website for further details.

Spooktacular activities are most appropriate for kindergarten aged children, although younger and older siblings or friends are welcome to participate. To register for the event make sure that you RSVP via the website. Follow the instructions for confirmation printing and take this with you to pay at the gate (cash only). Kindy Spooktacular is limited to the first 200 children and places do fill fast. Admission costs $15 per participating child aged 2 to 10 years. Upon entry, participants will receive a goody bag with treat and are welcome to participate in all the games and activities of their choice. Children will also be able to take home their crafty creations and prizes awarded from game activities. Adults and non-participating children outside of this age range are free.

There's no need to be scared of excluding your toddler from Halloween festivities, nor will you need to trick them into enjoying the day. You won't find gross and gore here; just cute and fun, making it perfect for little ones. Kindy Spooktacular is definitely the best place for young children to experience a happy, rather than a haunted, Halloween.
