This quirky and comedic sci-fi, Black Mirror-inspired one-man show weaves together a series of future scenarios that give us a glimpse at how technology and AI might be able to help us overcome some of our biggest problems - love, loss, self-acceptance, forgiveness...

The year is 2097 and we arrive in Kigali, Rwanda - now the worlds most populated megacity. But before we can explore this new world, we'll have to boot up our operating systems and set up or user accounts. We're asked to answer a series of security questions. Should we forget our password these questions will help us recover our account...

What's your mother's maiden name? What's the name of your first school, and the last name of your first best friend at that school? Who was the first person you kissed, and the last person who broke your heart - do you remember what they were wearing at the time and where you were? When was the last time you cried and do you often cry for no reason at all...

It turns out that constructing your perfect self in this new world is super easy. The guided instructions are simple to follow and your ideal best friend is in the zip lock bag in the fridge - just pop it on the kitchen sink to thaw out.

But not everything is sunshine and roses in Kigali - there are still stories of loss and loneliness...

But there are new tech solutions to these issues too - from a sleep inhibitor plug-in and dating apps that extract your emotional needs and desires directly from your brain to guarantee you'll fall in love in 20 minutes or less! No longer do you have to waste months and month, manually developing a relationship - finding (or creating) your perfect match is now fully automated!

Everything is downloadable - even the forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation...

Kigali2097 is on every day (except Monday) from 13 - 20 September at the Trades Hall (Cnr Lygon & Victoria Sts) and runs for about 40 minutes.
