One minute you have a bouncing and very energetic 3 year old and you're happily watching the penguins in the kid's zoo at the far end of the park. Without warning - bam, they're tired and they want to be carried. From the kids area, it's a very long, sometimes uphill and 100% backbreaking slog back to the cafe for a well-earned coffee (and Golden North ice cream for the little one).
They're brilliant. Truly brilliant. My grandson chooses the Kab he wants from the Kab rank, we pay $14 for the hire (includes the $5 deposit) and he can't wait to get in and explore. He pops his bag in the basket, puts his drink bottle in the bottle holder, "starts" the engine and then we're off.
Honestly, these brightly coloured little buggies are a life saver for grannies. They're easy to push, have storage for bags and bottles and snacks and other paraphernalia and kids just love them. That's the biggest deal here - the kids love them.
The littlies are still able to roam, run and explore, but when there's more serious walking to do they just hop back in and we move off again.
The Kidz Kabz are now automatically hired when we visit the Adelaide Zoo. It's our first stop when going in the gate and it makes our day so much more pleasurable. And, isn't that the whole point of going to the zoo?
There's the green and yellow one, which is my grandson's preference. There's also a "Panda" Kab and a dual seater Kab too. Prices vary - check with the volunteers on duty for all the info.
Also available for hire are pushers and wheelchairs. Just present to the Volunteer desk and enquire.
