It's like Splendour in the Grass for Kids in Parramatta Park
The brand new Kidtopia festival is going to be Sydney's big weekend out for little people over the last few days of the next school holidays. Held in Parramatta Park from 7 - 9 October, the event organisers are promising an extravaganza of entertainment for kids and their parents, never before seen in Sydney.
The 3-day festival will be jam packed with live music performances featuring the X Factor winner Cyrus Villanueva on Saturday evening, as well as other cool acts such as Australia's junior hip hop champions the Hellraizers, funky dance crew Zboyz, 17yr old singer songwriter Marcelo and Afro Punk group Lyre Byrdland. And because this is an uber cool festival the likes of the Wiggles won't really cut it in the mosh pit! Instead all the small people in your life will love bopping away to the funky tunes of Battlebird (a cool kids rock band) and also to The Vegetable Plot (a whacky roots musical for all of the little ladies and gentle lentils in your life).
Over the course of the weekend, there will be roving entertainers, face painters, an animal nursery, kids yoga, weird and wonderful science shows (where kids might be able to blow stuff up), circus schools, as well as everyone's favourite - the fun fair rides. There's even a special zone called Littletopia, for kids under 5 years to escape to when the festival becomes all too much.To cap off the entertainment at the end of each day, families can chill out at the open air cinema.
With food trucks galore, you and your brood can munch away on crowd-pleasing favourites such as pizza from Rocketboy Pizza, tasty little sliders from Slipp'n Sliders, buffalo chicken wings from Wing Kingdom, Mexican delights from Cantina Movil and yummy pastizzi and pita pockets from Bite Size Delights. And for a sweet finish you won't be able to go past the Dutch Poffertjes House and Cherry Hwy who will be serving up delicious sorbet and ice cream!
