The first Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon was conducted as a pilot series in 1999. Since then, however, more than 18,000 kids register for this event, annually in Australia alone. Notably, humble beginning that started with a great vision.

The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon offers kids the opportunity to exercise, compete in an event design for them, and to meet like-minded kids. For me personal, it gave my kids a goal and the motivation to complete a task.

Every kid that crosses the finish line, receives a medal. The Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is divided into three components which include swimming, cycling and running. Kids start the 'race' with swimming, followed with cycling and complete the stage with running.

The distance is set according to age group and there are plenty of volunteers to support kids throughout the event. Personally, my biggest concern was the swimming part. However, there were a number of life-guards to ensure my kids had a safe and enjoyable experience. Notably, kids should know how to swim before taking on this challenge.

Kids are divided into age category for race day with a staggered start. That means that age groups have different start times, which helps with supervision and safety.

Kids should have some basic fitness before taking on this challenge. There is plenty of advice and suggestion on the website which can help parents with tips on how to prepare their child for this event.

This year, the #tab_pricing ">Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon will be held on 22 March 2020 at the Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre from 7 am to 13:10. From personal experience, participants, and family, can expect a number of activities prior and after the event.

Entry fees vary to the age group with the early bird option ending 26 January 2020. Registration can be completed online.

Personally, the Sanitarium Weet-Box Kids TRYathlon was one of the best things my kids have done. Besides improving important physical skills, this event gives kids the opportunity to set goals and see their goals become reality. That, for me, was worth it!
