Do you ever find your kids following you around the garden asking "What flower is that?", or wanting to help while you tend the soil and pot your favourite plant? gardens can provide a great environment for kids to observe, discover, nurture and learn in these living laboratories.
To harness this curiosity The Soul Pantry at Newmarket offer workshops where children learn about selecting, designing and caring for plants while making their very own glass terrarium Terrariums date back to the 1800s when ferns were first kept in glass, miniature glasshouses where they were happy in their humidity filled surroundings to thrive on neglect.
The workshops include all materials including plants, figurines, rocks and soil and the kids get to take home their creations. Private group workshops are available, which are great for special occasions like birthday parties; how unique. The minimum group size is 5 and the maximum is 10. Workshops cost $35 plus booking fee with bookings made through the Soul Pantry website
So many plants
Workshops are conducted by owner Patricia Foley. Parents can enjoy a coffee and cake in the outdoor espresso bar or browse through the gift, homewares and plants, or pick up a bunch of fresh flowers while the kids are inside having fun.
