An all day school holiday program that won't break the bank
Not all school holiday programs cost a fortune Spingvale Indoor Sports for example, host an action-packed full day of fun for just $30 per child. My two boys went to check it out during the April school break.

The Springvale Indoor Sports program begins at 9am and ends at 3:30pm. The program is suitable for children 5 - 12 yrs. On arrival, all children are signed in by parents and given an appropriate coloured wrist band associated with their age group. There are four age groups in total, with one staff member responsible for each.

The day schedule looks something like this, however, each age group is slotted into all activities throughout the day, therefore not all kids' schedules will be the same:

Parents, in fact most, leave their children in the capable hands of the Springvale Indoor Centre staff. That said, there is the option to stay and work on your laptop if you wish, as I did. WiFi is available and it is free. Be aware though, it's pretty loud because the kids are (of course) having fun playing.

While the school program has a focus on sports, there are opportunities for the kids to enjoy other pursuits. My sons' favourites were the dodgem cars, bubble soccer, laser tag and inflatables. The younger kids also do arts and crafts and fun games such as musical chairs and playtimes with fun familiar characters!

You never know who the kids are going to meet!

What I did notice on my time spent at the centre watching, was the relaxed nature of the program. Sometimes, children did not wish to participate in some elements of their schedule, and that was OK. If they didn't want to partake in one particular activity, they were not forced to. Instead, they could watch or jump around on the inflatables. This put my own mind at ease as I wondered what my kids would do if they didn't want to participate in something.

All in all, the kids had a wonderful day. They were certainly exhausted and ready to go at the end, but they made friends and the variety of activities kept them entertained for the entire time.

For $30 per child (BYO lunch and drink bottle), the kids school holiday program at Springvale Indoor Sports is incredible value. Unsurprisingly, the program does get booked out, so it is advisable to book in as soon as you can. You can register your child here.

Springvale Indoor Sports centre can be found just off Springvale Road, not far from Gardenworld During term time, the centre offers indoor sports such as soccer, cricket, netball. In addition to that, there's an option of organising your child's birthday party here at any time during the year.
