There's a huge schedule of activities planned at Sydney Olympic Park this summer. In fact, it's the biggest range of school holidays activities anywhere in NSW, with something happening every day Saturday December 22 to Monday January 28.

Special Events
The 12th annual Movies by the Boulevard will run from Wednesday January 2 to Sunday January 13 at Cathy Freeman Park, with films shown each night at 8.30pm. Special kids' activities also taking place from 6.00pm on some evenings.

While Movies by the Boulevard is not exclusively aimed at kids there are quite a lot of kid-friendly movies scheduled, like Hotel Transylvania, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, Brave, The Muppets and Ice Age: Continental Drift. The rest are for older audiences, but your kids may enjoy them too. Click here for the full list.

Another special event taking place at Sydney Olympic Park in January is the Apia International Sydney , which will run from Sunday January 6 to Saturday January 12 at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre. There will be a special Kids Day on Monday January 7, when children under 16 can get into the grounds for free.

On Australia Day, there will be a free event at Bicentennial Park running from 12.00pm to 9.00pm, with rides and entertainment from 2.00pm. On-stage will be an Aboriginal dance ceremony and Acknowledgement of Country service, as well as dances, music, a Circus and Magic Show and a Bollywood performance. Off-stage entertainment will include free kids' activities, sheep shearing, whip cracking, sheep dog trial shows, an animal farm, face-painting, Indigenous dance and art workshops, craft stalls and a community bazaar.

Sport
Active kids out there can attend one of the many lessons that will be taking place at Monster Skatepark . Skating and scooter lessons will both take place on Mondays at 12.00pm and from Tuesday to Sunday at 9.00am. Tramp To Ramp classes will take place on Fridays at 12.00pm, while BMX classes will run on Mondays at 9.00am, Tuesdays at 6.00pm and Wednesdays at 12.00pm. The lessons all cost $30.00. There will also be a Skateboard and Freestyle BMX Competition from Friday January 11 to Sunday January 13, and even Holiday Camps between Monday January 21 and Friday January 25.

Archery lessons will also be running three times, at 11.00am, 1.00pm and 2.30pm, at the Archery Centre. These sessions cost $16.00. Swimming lessons will run on weekdays between Monday January 7 and Friday January 25, while diving clinics for both juniors ($21.00) and seniors ($27.00) will run from Monday January 7 to Friday January 11.

If the Apia International has inspired your kids, a tennis camp will be taking place every morning from Monday January 5 to Friday January 25 January, and there will also be an AC Milan Junior Soccer Camp from Tuesday January 22 to Thursday January 24.

Your whole family might also want to try out disc golf, which resembles golf but is played with Frisbees and has a basket instead of a hole. The sport will run every weekend from 10.30am to 3.30pm at Newington Armory and only requires a $5.00 deposit for the equipment, to be refunded when the equipment is returned.

AFL lovers should head down for clinics on Friday January 18 and Tuesday January 22. They will run from 10.00am to 12.00pm at Wentworth Common Oval, complete with an interactive fan zone, giveaways and free goodie bags. A Rugby League Clinic will run on Wednesday January 23 from 9.00am to 11.30am at Wentworth Common Oval, and will allow kids to meet some of their favourite NRL players and practice their league skills.

Get Creative
Bernard Cohen will run a range of Writing Workshops at the Education Centre in Bicentennial Park to suit all interests and ages throughout January. Digital Filmmaking Workshops will be running from Monday January 14 to Wednesday January 16, from 10.00am to 4.00pm, at Newington Armory, covering scriptwriting, filming and editing.

At Kites and Cake kids will be able to make their own kite, learn to fly it, and then enjoy cake and juice at Lilies on the Park Cafe in Bicentennial Park. The event will run on Wednesday January 9, Wednesday January 16 and Wednesday January 23 from 10.30am to 11.30am, costing only $19.00. At Cookies and Craft, which will run on various days throughout January at 10.00am and 2.30pm, young kids can make cookies and decorate a bag to hold them while they are being cooked (this one's also at Lilies on the Park Cafe).

Other Fun Activities
Heritage Railway Discovery Tours will take place every Sunday at 10.30am and 12.00pm at Newington Armory, where families can learn about what was once the Royal Australian Navy Armament.

Kids can learn to juggle, tumble, hula-hoop, swing on the low trapeze and more at Circus Skills lessons, which will take place from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, from Wednesday January 2 to Tuesday January 15 at the Aquatic Centre, with a cost of $25.00.

Sports, Sing and Dancing Star is a free activity which will take place from 9.00am to 11.00am at Cathy Freeman Park, from Monday January to Friday January 11. With Dance Star, kids can learn a new dance routine, with Sports Star kids can play cricket, hockey, polo and soccer and with Sing Star kids can groove and dance to their favourite tune.
