Thanks to Pinterest and Instagram and Harry Styles' viral JW Anderson cardigan, traditional skills are currently experiencing a revival amongst the youth - from knitting to sewing and dressmaking! Anyone can learn how to sew, crochet and macrame and it is a great activity for boys and girls aged 9 to 15 years.
And after mastering just a few basic skills, kids can make anything from funky tote bags and cushion covers to cute soft toys and even their own personalised fashion!
Best of all, it is a low-cost activity and a great way for kids to express their individual creativity.
The Fabric and Felt Studio is presenting a series of creative hands-on classes these school holidays. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn basic skills in an inspiring and encouraging setting.
Led by the friendly Shelley, owner of The Fabric and Felt Studio, kids will be able to work at their own pace and skill level. All required materials will be provided.
The kids will have fun in this very creative class of wet felt making. Using fine pulled wool rovings (fibres) they will lay a design onto a sheet of bubble wrap and then using other fibres such as yarn and recycled fabric they create a textural contrast on their design.
All classes are held in a small group to ensure each child receives one on one assistance and guidance.
