There are always so many fun and exciting happenings going on at Caloundra Regional Gallery, and with the summer school holidays almost upon us, I just know that parents will be looking for creative activities to keep the children happy and entertained. Here's a quick guide to what's happening from mid November through to mid January at Caloundra Regional Gallery.
Toddler Wednesdays are specifically geared for children aged between two and four years of age. Every session is created and facilitated by Lindy Saunders, an artist/arts educator, whose aim it is to provide a delightful creative learning experience in a relaxed setting. Activities are designed to enhance children's visual arts awareness and creativity.
Caloundra Regional Gallery is taking Children's Workshops on the road and are presenting a whole week's series of The Brightest Star Holiday Workshops for children at Venue 114, 114 Sportmans Parade, Bokarina between Monday 10 December and Friday 14 December. Ten sessions are available over the five days for children aged between seven and seventeen years of age.
Kim Schoenberger'sBrightest Star workshops will explore traditional Origami - the Japanese art of paper folding - and modern design techniques to create colour and texture on paper. Students will design their own original paper using paint transfer and frottage techniques, then create two stunning origami stars, one to take home and one to hang on the installation wall for the 'You're the Brightest Star' exhibit.
"When you fold, the ritual and the act of creation is more important than the final result. When your hands are busy your heart is serene"*
