Something Fishy About This Event
Love to fish? Want your children to share your passion? Then here's a great way to get them started at this FREE event taking place at Lillydale Lake, Swansea Road, Lilydale from 9am this Saturday 20th September.
Happiness is catching your first fish!
Kids come and try fishing day is open to children aged 5 to 14 years.
This annual event is always popular, so make sure you get there early to secure your spot. Children will be allocated a half hour session, and numbers are limited in each session.
Family fun day
To give your child the best possible chance of a successful fishing experience, fish will be netted off in an area beside the boat ramp. All gear is provided - including fishing rods with barbless hooks and bait. Note that this will be a 'catch and release' fishing event.
The day's events will be managed by volunteer members from the Yarra Valley Fly Fishers club, which has an aim of 'preserving and promoting the art of fly-fishing in all its aspects'.
As well as having a fun time fishing, a sausage sizzle will be provided for children and their families and carers.
If you're an adult who is interested in learning to fly fish, or in improving your fly fishing skills, the Yarra Valley Fly Fishers can help you too. Come and try fly casting at 10.00am - 12 noon each Sunday (equipment can be supplied). Or if fly tying floats your boat, there is a session each Wednesday at 8.00pm (a small charge applies).
