Summer is
the busiest time of year for fun things to do around the Capital for kids - there are so many choices, sometimes it's hard to know where to start! If you are looking for Christmas activities to do with the kids, check out all the
Christmas Carols and
events and festivals that are happening all around the city. If all those aren't enough, the following list has over 20
other events that are happening around the Capital that the kids will love. Get your calendar and jot down these dates for the month ahead - if you can fit it all in!
* Boundless Playground in Kings Park is set to re-open with new play equipment in December - see the Boundless Facebook for updates.
Friday, 1st December
The Commons Street Feast food truck festival started on 30th November and will run until 10th December. Kids will enjoy the family-friendly atmosphere on the weekends with free activities and a huge range of delicious food to try! See

Sunset Cinema at the Australian National Botanical Gardens will be showing the
Lego Movie: Ninjago, as the sun sets over the gardens. See

Gold Creek Countdown to Christmas is on this weekend and all month with celebrations and activities for the kids. See

Cockington Green Gardens at Gold Creek Village will be open in the evenings on 1st and 2nd December, between 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Children are free with an accompanying adult (which is a saving of $11.50). See

David Attenborough Virtual Reality Experience at the National Museum will be held each weekend and during the ACT school holidays. If you have been meaning to enjoy this experience, get in quick as it is in its final weeks! For ages 13 and over only. See

Bredbo Christmas Barn is open for a magical Christmas experience until 21st December (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays). See

The National Cherry Festival will be held in Young, a 2-hour drive north-west of Canberra. Pick your own fruit at one of the many orchards, buy fresh produce at the Cherry Festival Farmers markets, watch the Saturday Street Parade, try your luck at the Cherry Pip Spit or Cherry Pie Eating contests and much more. This event runs between 1st - 3rd December. See

Saturday, 2nd December
**
The National Dinosaur Museum** will be having an early opening for children with Autism, so they can experience the museum in quiet, without the robotic dinosaurs moving. The time will be between 9am - 10am. See

Sunday, 3rd December
Make Your Own Kiln-formed Christmas Decorations will be held at the Canberra Glassworks for children 8 years and over. The dates for these workshops are 3rd, 10th and 17th December. Also see the other dates for making your own glass tumbler, paperweight, bird or vase. See

Tilly's Reef Adventure - Children's Book Reading and Activities is an event held at the Bookshop inside the National Library of Australia. Join author and illustrator Rhonda Garward for a book reading followed by craft activities. Suited for ages 4 - 7. See

Tuggeranong Limelight Cinemas will be having a special family screening of the new movie
Coco, with face painting and Frozen Karaoke before the movie! See

Tuesday, 5th December
Little Faces at the National Portrait Gallery will be held between 5th - 8th December, for children aged from 6 months to 3 years. The children will look at the portrait
Nick Cave by Howard Arkle and explore colours using movement, singing and water play. See

Wednesday, 6th December
The National Dinosaur Museum at Gold Creek Village will have a night opening on 6th and 13th December. If you're weekends are getting busier at this time of year, why not visit the museum in the evening this December. See

Sunday, 10th December
Arachnid Adventure is a family-friendly tour at the Jerrabomberra Wetlands, starting at 7:30pm. Take a walk through the reserve and discover the wide array of spiders that live in this unique, natural environment. See

Friday, 15th December
Sunset Cinema at the Australian National Botanical Gardens will be showing
Paddington 2, as the sun sets over the gardens. Relax with the kids and enjoy dinner at the gardens while watching this family favourite. See

Saturday, 16th December
Discovery Zone will open for the ACT school holidays, on the lower ground floor of the Australian War Memorial. Sit inside a helicopter, walk through a Cold War submarine, walk through trenches and learn about what life was like during war-time. Free entry. See

NGA Play: Indieguerrillas opens at the National Gallery of Australia with free art-based activities for kids. This colourful and creative kids space is located in the foyer and suitable for all ages. See

The National Portrait Gallery will be having a free Family Space inspired by their
Starstruck Exhibition, starting from 16th December and finishing on 1st February 2018. Enjoy craft activities and interactive fun between 11am - 4pm. See

The Christmas Channel** is a family performance showing at the Canberra Theatre, between 20th and 23rd December. This show features over 40 of Canberra's most talented children and youth. See

Tuesday, 26th December
Portrait Play - Tell Me Your Story is a drawing and art activity at the National Portrait Gallery for children aged between 4 and 8 years old. This activity costs $7 per child, with more dates in December and January. See

Sunday, 31st December
New Year's Eve is celebrated in the heart of the city with a Family Concert in the Civic Square with fireworks at 9pm for the littlies. See
