Spring is in the air and that means it is the
perfect time for school fetes and fairs to be held around the city. For kids, this means lucky dips, rides, sideshow alley, haunted houses, cake stalls, pony rides and all the fun stuff that kids like - all thrown into one huge family-friendly event. As the month ticks by, it also means that many events start to take on a Christmas theme, with handmade markets to stock up on presents and stocking fillers. The following are just
some of the family-friendly events held around the city this month - guaranteed to put a smile on every kid's face around Canberra!
Saturday, 4th November
Wattle Early Childhood Centre in Lyneham will be having a fete between 10:30am - 1:30pm. This fun day for the whole family will have a jumping castle, face painting, trash and treasure, mini market and kids activities. See

Sunday, 5th November

Yarralumla Primary School Fete! Festa Fantastica!! **will be held in Yarralumla between 10am - 3pm to celebrate their 60th year. There will be a blow-up obstacle course, silent auction, trash and treasure, lucky dips, sideshow alley, Italian food and more. See

Farm Gate Markets will be held on the paddocks of Pialligo Estate (near Canberra Airport) between 12pm - 7pm. Kids will enjoy the petting zoo, live music and games, whilst adults will enjoy the gourmet food markets, wine and general markets stalls. See

Saturday, 11th November
St Thomas Fete will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Primary School in Kambah, between 10am - 2:30pm. There will be show bags, tomboys, sideshow alley, Kulture Break and rides! Have fun on the Dodgem Cars, Sizzler Supa Cha Cha, Chair-O-Plane, Giant Slide, Jumping Castles and Clowns. See

Kids' Bush Dances will be held on at the All Saints Church Hall in Ainslie between 2:30pm - 4pm. Kids will enjoy learning new dances to live music and there will be a caller to help them with the steps. See

Taste of Braddon & The District Food and Wine Frolic is a festival celebrating all things Braddon in Haigh Park, with food, wine and market stalls showcasing local talent. This festival will be held all weekend between 11am - 6pm. For the kids there will plenty of entertainment including miniature dog races held on both days. See cute

Saturday, 11th November - Continued
Gilmore Primary School 30th Birthday Extravaganza will be held between 12pm - 4pm with amusement rides, the Canberra Reptile Zoo, a fire truck, petting zoo, face painting, musicians, bands, food stalls, cake stalls, bric-a-brac and more! See

Big Splash Waterpark in Macquarie opens for the summer season, to the delight of kids and adults around the region. There is a colourful toddler pool for the small ones and thrill-seeking twisting waterslides for the big kids. See

The Queanbeyan Show will be held on the weekend of 11th and 12th November at Queanbeyan Showgrounds. There will be all the old favourites such as sidshow alley, the farmyard nursery, BMX demonstrations, wood chopping, animals on show, markets, show jumping, food stalls, pavilions, reptile demonstrations, yard dog trials, camel rides, face painting and fireworks on the Saturday night! Sunday, 12th November
The National Arboretum will be celebrating 100 years of the Cork Oak Forest with family activities, food trucks, ribbon twirling, tours and story-telling with Fay Maddison. This family-friendly event will be held between 11am - 3pm. See

Orana Steiner School Spring Fair will be held in Weston Creek between 11am - 3pm. There will be live entertainment, crafts, puppet show, secondhand market stalls, plants, handmade craft, food and more. See

Moana Sing-A-Long will be held at Tuggeranong Limelight Cinemas at 2pm. The screening also includes free face painting and kids craft activity. All the lyrics will be on screen so Mums and Dads can sing along too! See

Thursday, 16th November
Brick Club is a monthly LEGO group for 5-8 year olds, which is held at the Woden Library between 4pm - 4:45pm. This event is free, but bookings are essential through Eventbrite to secure your place. See

Friday, 17th November**
Sunset Cinema at the Australian National Botanical Gardens will be showing
Captain Underpants at 6:30pm, as the sun sets. Sit back on a beanbag and enjoy this family night out under the stars. See

Saturday, 18th November**
St Thomas Aquinas Christmas Fete will be held in West Belconnen between 11am - 3pm. There will be fun activities for the whole family including prizes of donated goods from the whole community. See

Canberra Kids Market will be held at the EPIC (Exhibition Park in Canberra) between 9am - 12pm. If your kids enjoy looking around market stalls there will be toys, clothes and accessories just for them. See

Sketchy Sunday** is a free event held in the Sculpture Garden at the National Gallery of Australia, between 12pm - 3pm. Join artists, designers and architects in the Sculpture Garden for sketching activities celebrating design and the art of drawing.
