Munich Brauhaus on South Wharf is one of those iconic experiences. You might not eat there all the time, but it would be a shame to miss out on never going there for a hearty meal. The food is wonderful stodge which is great fun every now and again, especially on a cold night.
It is probably best described as comfort food. Huge pretzels served with pots of glistening butter, football field sized schnitzels, pork crackling and fat snags with mountains of mashed potatoes and rivers of gravy.
Some German men were sitting next to me and they gave it the thumbs up.
Kids are likely to love this experience and with this deal, it is the perfect time to give this venue a try. Especially given that kids under 12 eat free from the kids menu. One full paying adult meal equates to one free kid's meal.
Menu items for kids include foods they are likely to eat such as schnitzels with mash, German hot dogs, crispy mac 'n cheese balls with smoked bacon and homemade gelato in flavours such as Black Forest cake and Tahitian vanilla.
The restaurant also supplies wunderbar free Kids Activity Packs to keep your little ones entertained while you enjoy your meal in peace.
On Sundays, Munich Brauhaus is transformed into a Family Wunderland. There's a games room, face painter, entertainer and a Farm Haus where your little ones can meet some cute little farm animals including lambs, piglets, rabbits, goats and chickens! But visiting South Wharf is not just a home to Munich Brauhaus but rather a unique destination in itself.
There is great walking along the Yarra river and it is also home to a DFO which means there is some great discount shopping on hand. There is discounted parking behind the shopping centre, which you are entitled to when you purchase any food or goods at South Wharf. All the new architecture is quite amazing making for an interesting stroll.
Another special winter treat is that the Common Man on the river's edge have replaced their beer garden with a skating rink for the winter months.
There are children's skating sessions and a toboggan rides as well. To find out more about this and the Monday special click here. With this winter wonderland and Munich Brahaus' free kids' meals this area really is making winter glow a little warmer.
