Keep a sharp eye out for Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit and the Dormouse this October, because I suspect they'll want to be in attendance at the free Kids' Crazy Island Tea Party as part of the Crave Sydney International Food Festival. And they'll be in for more foodie fun than they ever had in Wonderland.

There might even be a pirate or two setting sail from Campbells Cove for a voyage across the sea to Goat Island, one of Sydney Harbour's best kept secrets, on the magical weekends of October 15 and 16, 22 and 23, and 29 and 30. Two sessions are available each day (9am to 12.45, including ferry ride and 1pm to 4.45pm including ferry ride) but because of limited places you must register to attend.

Registrations open to the public from 9 am Sunday September 25. There is a limit of 6 tickets per registration. If you sign up for Foodie News updates about the Festival, you're eligible for earlybird registration here from 9 am Friday 23 September to 5pm Saturday 24 September.

While the event is designed for kids under 12, the whole family can come along so don't let your family miss out on all the fun.

Celebration Teapot Cake

Pirates Hideaway Cove is where you can search for pirate treasure.

The Lindt Teddy Bears Picnic features entertainment by a live band and colouring competitions. You can bring your own picnic lunch or purchase food (you must bring cash for your purchases - no credit card or EFTPOS facilities will be available).

At the Sparkle Cupcakery Factory kids will be encouraged to give full rein to their imaginations in decorating their very own cupcake under the watchful eye, and encouragement of a Sparkle Chef.

The Enchanted Tea Party will feature teacups and giant rabbits.

And now to the fine print.

No alcohol is permitted on the island. Persons found in possession of alcohol, or under its influence, will be removed from the island.

Children must be supervised at all times by a nominated adult carer

Don't be late for this very important date. You'd better get in quickly if you're going to beat Alice and friends to this enchanted adventure.

Same here. I tried many times but it displays each time, tickets not available. I even registered with the Foodies.

With only twelve sessions available in all, tickets must have been allocated very quickly. However the website is currently displaying the following message "..the allocation is currently exhausted. Stay tuned for more information." So maybe there's a possibility of further sessions? It must be disappointing to have missed out. I can only suggest you keep checking back with the Crave Sydney website.

An absolute rort. I got the pre-sale notification for this event on Friday 23 September, saying tickets went on sale to the public on 24 September. On the same day (23 September), within 2 hours of getting the email, I couldn't get any tickets. What a load of crap. The website tells us now to "stay tuned". Absolute BS.
