Kids Crafts - Make a Treasure Box Using Items From Home

Are you looking for some craft ideas for your kids, using equipment and materials that you already have around your home? Then check out these cute little treasure boxes/jewellery boxes that are easy to make. They are good for kids who like to make small things, however, you can also make them on a larger scale by covering a tissue box or shoebox instead!

All you need for these cute boxes is a cardboard cereal box, foil, tape, glue and stickers or accessories. Let's get started!




1/ Get a large cereal box from your pantry and pull it apart, to use the cardboard for the box. (Alternatively, use a cube tissue box or another small box as your base instead).

2/ Print out a cube box pattern from the internet - I printed out mine from here .

3/ Cut out the template and trace it onto the cereal box. Cut out carefully.

4/ Assemble the box by folding on the lines and taping the flaps in place, except for the flap lid.

5/ Rip up small pieces of foil.

6/ Glue all over one side of the box and stick the foil pieces on like a collage. Repeat for all sides. This is the fiddly bit, but it doesn't have to be neat.

7/ Your Treasure Box is now complete, so it is ready to decorate! Use stickers, old birthday cards, gift tags, pictures from advertising brochures, coloured paper, pictures from other cereal boxes, shells, dried flowers - whatever you have around the home.

8/ Use it for special items, small pieces of Lego, lucky coins or whatever is special to your child. Repeat and make more in other sizes and colours, or make some as gift boxes and fill with lollies. The ideas are endless!
