A great low cost and educational activity for kids
After the success of their first Kids Cooking Workshop entitled 'Snack Attack' in September 2013, the Sydney Dietetics team is back this October with their latest interactive nutrition and cooking workshop - 'Fat: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'.
The Sydney Dietetics Kids Cooking Workshop program offers children invaluable nutritional advice and addresses common diet and nutrition myths.
The forthcoming Kids Cooking Workshop on Saturday, 19 October 2013 will dispel the many myths about 'fat' consumption - from the truth about advertising terms such as 'low-fat' or 'fat-free', to the common misconception that a low-fat diet is ideal and fat is not necessary for the body.
In this workshop, an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) will act as the workshop facilitator and will help children breakdown the different types of fats (saturated, unsaturated and trans fat).
The workshop facilitator will also detail the common foods that contain saturated, unsaturated and trans fats and will also explain to children why we need to consume a certain amount of 'good' fat daily.
After this interactive nutrition lesson, children will then watch the workshop facilitator prepare a healthy 'carrot, tomato and tuna pasta' dish. Following the demonstration, children will then prepare the dish themselves and will be supervised by the workshop facilitator.
At the conclusion of the workshop, children will then enjoy the dishes they prepared themselves together.
