Keep kids entertained without breaking the bank
Keeping kids entertained is a mammoth task as their energy levels never seem to diminish. Thankfully though there are a number of events happening around Adelaide that cater specifically for kids leading up to Christmas. And, what's more, these events are free, so you won't have to worry about breaking the bank.
From 11am to 3pm, your kids can experience a re-creation of ancient Bethlehem at Mellor Park in Lockleys. There will be a live animal manger, angels, shepherds and wise men. There will also be camel, donkey and pony rides, plus artists, potters, printers, spinners, weavers and puppeteers.
Also, on the same day, at Edge Church in Findon, your kids can enjoy photos with Santa as well as rides, activities and inflatable fun from 11am to 3pm. There will also be a mini Christmas Carols Spectacular for the whole family. Lockleys and Findon are on the same side of town, not too far from each other, so you'll be able to cover both events on the same day.
Starting from 7pm, your kids can see, hear and taste Bethlehem as it was 2,000 years ago at Seeds Uniting Church in Aberfoyle Park. The church's carpark converts into a live nativity. There will be Jewish dancers, centurions and baby Jesus. There will also be various activities, animal nursery and tastings.
Between 4pm and 8pm, at Trinity Church in the city, your kids can participate in Christmas story tours which include ice cream, jelly, popcorn and cake at the end. These tours run every 15 minutes. There will also be a Christmas photo booth, racing simulators, jumping castle, animal farm, face painting, nail art and craft.
