The Brookfield Garden Centre will be running workshops for kids over the school holidays. One of these is the "Kids and Chooks" workshop run by Andrew O'Hara. Andrew is well known locally for his heritage breed chooks - you may have seen him and his chooks at the Moggill markets.

This workshop will educate kids about caring for chickens in a fun environment. Topics covered will include: setting up a home for your chickens, what to feed them and what NOT to feed them, general care, what to expect from your chooks, what they get up to during the day and what your chickens need to have a happy and healthy life.

Andrew will be bringing along some of his heritage breed chooks and also some cute little fluffy chicks which the kids will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with.

Keeping chickens in the backyard has become very popular again but did you know that since 1952, importing chickens into Australia has been banned? Andrew raises heritage breed chooks to help ensure rare breeds such as Leghorns, Sussexes and Australorps don't disappear from our backyards.

Why not bring the kids along to this fun and educational workshop? Be sure to check their pockets when you pick them up because those little chicks will be irresistible!

Bookings are essential and you can book and pay online - see the website to find out how.
