It's time to put away the tablets, smart phones and consoles.
It's time to immerse yourself (and your kids) in nature.
It's time to head to the Kids Adventure Festival!

Located at Mt Baw Baw, the Kids Adventure Festival gives all kids and their parents a chance to really experience the great outdoors on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April, 2014. Celebrating and encouraging outdoor play and adventure, the Festival gives everyone an opportunity to engage with nature while experiencing a vast array of activities.
.
The Festival provides adventure activities in a safe, natural environment specifically designed for the children aged between 5 and 15 years. These activities are catered to children of all abilities and confidence levels, which in turn, encourages participation, maximises their experience, and guarantees enjoyment.

Here is a sneak peak of the awesome activities at the Festival.

Get ready to scramble boys and girls! Little Tough Guy/Gal Challenge is a 1.5km obstacle course that will have kids running, clambering, crawling, and what have you. It's short, fun, and absolutely brilliant.

Bike bandits may enjoy the two Mountain Biking activities during the weekend. Older children who are confident on their bikes can take up the challenge of the maxi mountain ride, while the younger ones can have a go at the mini mountain bike trail. Expect hills, views and beautiful bushes.

Trail Run will definitely get the little heart pumping. The aim here is to have fun and enjoy the environment whilst experiencing the thrill of running through the wilderness. You can sprint, run or jog, and slow down to a walk when you need a break.

There's no reason why Mums and Dads with toddlers and babies can't enjoy a challenge. All you need to do is bring the pram (with your baby of course), put on your sneakers and head to the start line for Pram Mountain Challenge. Be the first to push your way to the top of Baw Baw and there may be a special prize waiting. It's 1.5km to the top and make sure you enjoy a picnic there before coming back down.

For the budding rock climbers the Climbing Wall is perfect! Led by trained professionals, kids will put on a harness and off they go climbing to the top. Remind them to enjoy the view of the Gippsland Valley.

Whatever you do, don't miss out on the Big Baw Baw Camp Out. Enjoy the cool evening breeze and count the stars before you go to sleep. Older children can camp with their friends or siblings in the kids only area while the younger ones can camp with their parents. Also, there will be fun evening activities for everyone to participate. This is a fantastic introduction to camping for your children. Happy campers guaranteed!

Whether you're staying in a tent, or somewhere else on the mountain, you should attend the Big Baw Baw Bush BBQ. Party with the people as you munch on delicious bush burgers and singletrack snags as you watch the sun go down.

There will be several Bush Walks organised throughout the weekend. Explore Mt Baw Baw and the adjoining National Park and discover what's hidden among the trees. There will be plenty of long walks for the older kids (and parents), and short walks for the young ones.

You will also get the chance to participate in bush art and music activities at Indigenous Art Adventure; meet all sorts of cute animals at Wild Petting Zoo; and learn about the bushcraft techniques at Bushcraft Activities. You'll never know, what you learn may come in handy one day. You can also learn to treasure hunt using easy navigation skills at Geocoaching and try your hand at a bit of Slacklining.

As you can see, there are plenty here for children of all ages and this is not the complete list! You should check the Kids Adventure Festival website closer to the weekend for the full, confirmed list.

Mt Baw Baw is only 2.5 hours from the CBD so it's not too far for a day trip, but also perfect for a weekend getaway with your children. Family 2 day passes are $140 (2 adults, 3 kids) and Family single day passes are $75 (2 adults, 3 kids). Additional kids are only $22 extra per day.

So bring your sense of adventure and be prepared to have the time of your life!
