Perfect for kids below ten years of age, the City of Belmont have built a ten part bicycle obstacle course in Peachey Park that is located on the corner of Acton and Kew Streets in Kewdale.

The course contains such challenges such as The Slalom, Spring Balance, Rattle Ridge and the Bone Shaker. Difficulty ranges from the very simple to very difficult. My six year old needed help on just about every obstacle as some of the entrances onto the obstacles are not in line with the ground and need quite a push to get onto it. However, there were some very confident four years olds cycling around the paths and tackling the obstacles independently.

One of her favourites was the Tilt Bridge which is a see saw that you need ride up on and will tilt to the other side when the weight has passed the middle.

Older kids will also enjoy the park but most of them tried the obstacle course with a scooter which of course had limited success as the area is specifically built for bikes.

The kids on the scooters did enjoy the Wall Turns which are three strategically placed curved wall surfaces which they can ride their scooter on and off, much like at a skate park.

In the same park as the bike challenge are BBQ pits, benches and picnic tables for those want to stay longer. There is also a playground attached and an open grassed area and a basketball hoop for those who want to play on those. Be warned that there are no toilets though.

If you have a kid who enjoys a bike riding challenge then this quiet park is the place to take them.
