During the school holidays, teach the kids a bit about the "olden days" at
Caboolture Historical Village during their kids's activity week (Tuesday, July 3rd - Thursday, July 5th, 2012).
Children are welcome to ride the mini train, try gem fossicking, learn some pottery skills, or maybe even make your own Sun Dial. Bookings are essential on 5495 4581.
The Caboolture Historical Village has 70 buildings, including an authentic pioneer cottage, train station, dairy, hospital, general store and school, housing 110 000 treasures and
73 vehicles such as antique engines, vintage trucks, classic cars, antique machinery and tractors.
The entire collection has been donated to the Caboolture Historical Society and only items relevant to the area are accepted. The oldest item being an 1802 Toffee Cutting Machine. There is also a Maritime Museum, and a Rainforest Walk on the property and refreshments available at the Village Hotel.
Caboolture Historical Village is also hosting a fun filled
Heritage Fair. Over the weekend of July 14-15, 2012, everyone is welcome to experience life in a colonial village.
Colonial re-enactments, a grand parade, live music, market stalls, chainsaw sculptures, pony rides, merry go round, face painting, and a jumping castle will keep everyone entertained (Saturday only).
Sit back, enjoy your damper and tea and appreciate some old fashioned fun. What a unique way to learn about our pioneer ancestry.
