A day out with the family can be expensive, but visit these Parks, Pools, Gardens, and Libraries with your kids and be assured they'll stay entertained for hours. Many of these venues are free, however, it might be best to check the websites provided in this article for any updates.

PARKS

Wulaba Park, Waterloo

This playground in Waterloo features a giant slide and the adventure-style activities will keep many children playing for hours. Sydney artist Nuha Saad helped to design this adventure play equipment. The park also features a table tennis table, handball area, picnic and BBQ areas, bike racks, and public toilets.

Prince Alfred Park, Surry Hills

There are two different playgrounds at Prince Alfred Park in Surry Hills, one featuring a large circular yellow structure where kids will feel like they're flying and the other has an enclosed area suitable for toddlers. There is also an open play space near the basketball courts. It is a park with many different ways to play.

Pirrama Park, Pyrmont

Pirrama Park is a harbourside park with an extensive playground, picnic areas as well as BBQ spots. The water playground is great fun during the hot summer months. There is also a walk named, The Stevedore Walk, an ode to this area's history of ships loading and offloading cargo. You can access this park by bus and light rail. Some street parking is available but parking stations may be your better option.

POOLS

Cook + Phillip Park Pool

Situated in the CBD in College St, Cook + Phillip Park Pool has indoor pools and is open every day except Good Friday and Christmas Day. This pool complex is bathed in natural light and is suitable for all ages and swim levels. The leisure pool has a wave machine where you can have even more fun.

Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre

With three pools, free play lanes, a gym, aqua aerobic classes, a cafe and close to transport, the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre has something for all skill levels. Situated in Ultimo, the complex is open all year round.

Victoria Park Pool

This complex has pools and a fitness centre and they have open days where you can explore the facilities. Offering learn-to-swim classes, free play lanes, and a cafe, Victoria Park Pool is conveniently situated in Camperdown. Limited 2-hour onsite parking is also available.

GARDENS

Royal Botanic Garden

Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden is a magical place to walk through and with many events suitable for kids, like cryptic adventures and craft workshops, plan your next visit soon. Look out for community events, exhibitions and even plant sales.

Auburn Botanic Gardens

Auburn Botanic Gardens is open daily, except Christmas Day. It features a community picnic area and an equal access playground, a native and rainforest garden, a scented garden and more. Events are also held here but bookings are essential.
