QSO Channel Children's Spirit in Kiddies Concert
QSO Present Tiaras and Tin Soldiers These Holidays
Each year the Queensland Symphony Orchestra presents a series of concerts aimed specifically for children aged two to seven years. Presented in the Courier-Mail Piazza, children are encouraged to dress up and join in the fun as they meet the instruments of the orchestra and explore the world of classical music.
This Easter holidays, the QSO will present Tiaras and Tin Soldiers. Conducted by long-time Kiddies Concert Conductor and orchestra member Peter Luff and hosted by Jay Laga'aia who is known for his time on the ABC Children's Program Playschool, the Orchestra will take families on an interactive journey of musical discovery as they dance and sing their way through a program of popular classics and children's songs. Works on the program will include orchestral favourites such as Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Waltz and Alford's Colonel Bogey March, while Jay will also present sing-along favourites from his latest album.
Jay Laga'aia Will Sing Songs From His New Album
The performances run from Tuesday 15th April through to Thursday 17th April, with concerts at 10am and 11:30am. Tickets cost $14 and are available to book through QTIX by visiting their Website or by calling 136 246. The concert runs for fifty minutes and since the seating in the Piazza is quite hard, audience members are encouraged to bring along a cushion to sit on. Weekday parking at Southbank is expensive, so consider taking a train to South Bank Station, or a bus to South Bank Parklands or the Cultural Centre Bus Stops.
These concerts are perfect way for families to introduce children to the Symphony Orchestra in a relaxed atmosphere, so don your tiara, bring your tin soldiers and get ready for a music filled morning with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
