There is a great variety of family friendly activities to keep the kids of Sydney entertained for the second month of Spring in 2013. As promised in September's list, here is the low down on some of the top kid friendly events in October, from the west to the shire, it is covered. A couple of great outer Sydney, escape the city type events are also considered. Enjoy Sydney, have a great October, and shall see you again in November. Again, these events are presented in date order, not necessarily in order of preference.
1. Twilight Fair
Baulkham Hills will be the host of this particular kid friendly event for the month of October. School fetes and fairs are taking off with a vengeance in Sydney, with the aim of providing better educational facilities for the kids of Sydney. Yes, its working. The Twilight Fair will be held at St Michael's Primary School on Friday the 11th of October from 3:30pm to 9pm.
A BBQ will be put on, and there will be a variety of different carnival rides, including the hummer ride and slippery slides. Cheerleaders and Irish dancing will also feature. Additionally, there will be a chocolate wheel, as well as market stalls and other novelties. An affordable start to the weekend for a good cause.
2. The Brookvale Show
We're moving on from the west, and now heading to the Northern Beaches area of Sydney for October's next kid friendly event. Welcome to The Brookvale Show on Saturday 19 October. A variety of carnival rides will be available, as well as BMX demonstrations and horse jumping events. Wood chopping will also be a family friendly feature at this event, kind of like the Easter Show coming early.
3. Day Out with Thomas at Trainworks
A chance to meet the full sized Thomas the Tank Engine. The kids will love the mini steam train rides, as well as enjoying a BBQ lunch with the family. There will be photo taking opportunities with Thomas, as well as a chance to play on the jumping castles. Your kids might also enjoy the face painting experience, as well as having some cool fun on the inflatable slides. 4. Dam Fest Warragamba
An open day at the Warragamba Dam on Sunday 20th of October. A great family day out, and amusement rides will be available for the kids. Unlimited rides are $25 per child when purchased on the day, or $20 per person when purchased in advance. This event also includes market stalls and an animal farm. 5. Norton Street Italian Festa
Italian paradise in Sydney, and home to the Italian Forum, an open playground of restaurants, shops and cafes. Speaking of playgrounds, the open area is fun for kids to play and run around, not to mention tasting some delicious gelato to suit all taste buds. The 27th of October will be all about this prominent strip of popularity in Leichhardt, a suburb in Sydney's inner west. The kids will enjoy the carnival activities on offer. Expect crowds. 6. Gymea Village Fair
From the western side to the Sutherland Shire/South side, Gymea will also keep families entertained this Spring. Gymea Village Fair will feature over 120 different stall holders and the kids will love the rides and show bags, as well as the fairy floss and snow cones. It's on on Sunday 27 October.
