Located along Unley Road in the Unley suburb of Adelaide, the family-owned Khla Restaurant specialises in offering delicious steak, ribs and chicken wings. Complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is provided when you dine there to help sate your hunger while waiting for your main dishes to arrive.

Their Share Platters are a great option for those dining in a group. They feature BBQ Ribs, Scotch Fillet and Chicken Wings with four sides of your choice and five different refillable sauces. Our choice was the Ribs Meat Pan, which was just right for a small group.

We opted to have our Scotch Fillet cooked to medium and it was very succulent with a good amount of char-grilled flavour. The BBQ Ribs were enjoyable to eat with flesh that was easy to separate from the bones and had the degree of smoky flavour that we like. Adding to the enjoyment were Chicken Wings which had juicy flesh set off wonderfully by the crisp batter coating.

For the four sides, we chose Steak Fries, Crumbed Onions, Crumbed Mushrooms and Coleslaw. The Crumbed Onions and Crumbed Mushrooms were all fried to golden brown with the crumb coating of the mushrooms contrasting well with the juicy interior. Their Coleslaw stood out from the ones we had before because it included celery and dill pickles - ingredients not typically seen in coleslaw. Its crisp texture and sharp taste made it a great partner to our meat dishes.

The sauces that came with our platter were Pepper Gravy, Mushroom Gravy, Diane Sauce, Hickory BBQ Sauce and Sriracha BBQ Sauce. We liked that the Pepper Gravy had a good amount of peppery flavour and the Mushroom Gravy had enough mushrooms to make it satisfying to eat. Their Diane Sauce is milder than the ones we are used to; it had a delectable garlicky flavour that was not too strong. The Hickory BBQ Sauce tasted similar to the sauce that glazed their BBQ Ribs but take some care when eating the Sriracha BBQ Sauce as it does have a potent spicy taste.

This restaurant is very popular attracting a large crowd during the peak dinner hour so booking a table is highly advisable if you would like to dine there.
