KFC- hipster style
When I hear the words KFC, I generally think of it as a last minute lazy Friday night meal. For this reason, you can imagine my surprise when a few people at work suggested it for lunch. If we are being honest, I was less than enthusiastic to go. I am a self confessed foodie and Parramatta has a wide range of gourmet food on order. Despite my lack of wholeheartedness to go, I decided it would be a nice way to finish the week with the team.

As we arrived the tables were full and the line continued out the door and onto the street. It was as busy as Messina on a Friday night.

As soon as we joined the line, a friendly staff member asked if this was our first experience dining at the new KFC. He then moved on to explaining the menu. Essentially this KFC provides your favourites like popcorn chicken and 3 piece feed but also has an option of burgers, wraps and bowls.

First you choose your meal: Burger, wrap or bowl. Then you can choose from original recipe, zinger or grilled chicken. Lastly you choose your flavour, with options of southern bbq, jalapeņo mayo and creamy aioli.

I chose the bowl with grilled chicken and creamy aioli. It came served on a bed of coz lettuce, mixed corn salsa, red quinoa and avocado. I was surprisingly impressed.

For KFC, I was actually enjoying my meal without any worry about feeling sluggish later.

The KFC staff members came over and asked if we were enjoying our meals and offered us all free frozen custard in either chocolate or vanilla. For a fast food restaurant, I was surprisingly impressed with the customer service. The frozen custard was similar to soft serve and quite delicious.

Overall, this experience was definitely not typical of any KFC experience I have had had before. Everyone enjoyed their meals without any complaint. I don't know if I'd go here on a regular basis but it is definitely worth the try for something different. I hear it is also soon to be licensed, so that will make the KFC dining experience even more interesting.

Since Mcdonalds has opened their "Corner Cafe" on Missenden Rd Camperdown KFC is competing with their new "healthy menu" and attentive staff.
