Celebrating cultural diversity and community connection, the Kensington CommUNITY Festival on Sunday 29 March 2020 from 10am to 4pm at Kensington's JJ Holland Park, 67-121 Kensington Rd, Kensington is a FREE family-friendly event. If you'd like to be part of the Festival as a VOLUNTEER, make your enquiries via the link given.

It's going to be a huge day of fun with music and food from around the globe. Entertainment includes jumping castles, treasure hunts, henna hand painting and more. You'll have the opportunity to try hula hooping, juggling, tai chi, African drumming, and Bollywood dancing. SEE HERE for the full program of the day.

Get to know your locals through their community and business stalls on hand with displays and interactive activities. These include the popular Family Activity Passport with free giveaways. Guess who's coming to the Kensington CommUNITY Festival? The North Melbourne Football Club will be there for you to kick a footy with, so bring your friends and have a bit of a friendly training session. Showcasing youth soccer, enjoy team games. There's also lawn bowling for the kids.

The Sustainable Living Expo and its displays will be filled with information on food forests, composting and waste solutions. The ever-popular repair hub is the perfect opportunity to get your bike, jewellery or clothing repaired on the spot. Plus there'll be other local projects covering sustainability themes. On that note, water refilling and drinking stations will be available so be sure to bring your drinking bottle to refill. Proud to be a sustainable event, a community crockery and cutlery station will be set up, along with a dish wash up station to eliminate the need for single-use plastic cups and paper plates. You're strongly encouraged to bring your own cups and water bottles.

One of the main attractions, of the event, THE SUSTAINABLE LIVING EXPO will have lots going on. Come along and hear all about the Neighbourhood Climate Action Plan and throw some of your ideas in the hat. Bring empty bottles to take home environmentally-friendly packaging-free-products like shampoo, conditioner, hand and body wash, laundry and dishwashing detergent, and castile soap; all from Roving Refills. If you have seeds, swap or pick up from the Kensington Seed Savers and Swap stall.

Visit the food garden display and the worm farms, paint a sign for the food forest, be inspired by what you can make out of restored wood and upcycled items, find out local projects that are caring for, and regenerating the Moonee Ponds Creek, donate a tree for Mallacoota regeneration at the Transition Town Kensington Stall and read thought-provoking sustainable messages on how to care for our planet because prevention is always better than cure.
