Creatures large and small abound is this pet store and cafe
Are your kids pestering you to go to the zoo, or the aquarium or even the museum? Entrance fees are so expensive aren't they? Never fear, there is a place in the north west of Sydney, a pet shop actually, that is just like a mini zoo, aquarium and museum all rolled into one and it doesn't cost a brass razoo to enter!
When you arrive at Kellyville Pets the first thing you will see are the enormous dinosaurs lurking in the gardens. This is the first sign that you have arrived at more than a pet store. At this pet store you will see the usual dogs, cats, guinea pigs and goldfish but there are so many more fascinating creatures available for you to see, touch and if you wish, purchase.
Lets start with the reptiles. How about a baby turtle - I don't think there is a cuter critter in the whole world! Snakes both big and small are here as well and we are not just talking one or two, there are loads! Other slithery creatures include blue tongue lizards, bearded dragons, and frogs of all descriptions. Kellyville Pets also run a reptile handling course where you can learn everything thing there is know about keeping a reptile as a pet in your home.
On to our feathered friends - parrots, finches, budgies, chickens etc, there is a whole room dedicated to these colourful characters. Apparently there are over 60 different species for you to gawk at like a galah. You can watch staff feed them and maybe if you ask sweetly enough they may even let you help to! You can also go to parrot preschool with your hand raised bird - a 3 hour course will teach you how to build trust, handle them and also how to teach your pet bird some tricks a bit fancier than "polly want a cracker."
Fancy a critter as a pet? They are apparently the easiest to look after and create the least mess. Freaky big stick insects, scorpions, rhino beetles, weird looking cockroaches and bird eating spiders are to name but a few of the insects on show at the store. Don't worry they are all behind glass enclosures!
The majority of the creatures on show are enclosed in either cages or glass cabinets but there are some very fluffy pooches available for you to pat - as long as you ask the permission of staff first. There are loads of puppies available for sale and you will find it very hard trying to leave the store without one. If you need wheels for your fur child, why not pick up a puppy pram whilst instore?
Kitty cats, bunny rabbits and guinea pigs are all available to check out as well as an amazing array of fish. There are over 300 species available and you will be transfixed by the colours of them as you wander through the aquarium section at Kellyville Pets. They sell everything from snails, to crabs, to yabbies, to the most exotic looking fish you have ever seen. See who can find Nemo first!
Once you have finished checking out all of the zoo and aquarium exhibits wander the store to pick up a treat for your beloved pet. Everything from pet food, to toys, to cages, to treats are available for sale. The staff are super friendly and are able to give you advice on owning a pet or they can tell you a bit more about all of the creatures on show at Kellyville Pets.
If you decide to purchase a pet during your visit you can be guaranteed that all of the creatures at Kellyville Pets are in the very best of health and also that have been living in the best environment possible whilst in store. Kellyville Pets adhere to the standards of the Animal Welfare League of NSW. They also take great pride in matching pets with owners, going so far as offering you a cooling off period just in case you realise once you are home, that your brand new pet purchase doesn't quite fit into your lifestyle.
Kellyville Pets is so much more than a pet store. It has a vet in house as well as a pet school. There is pamper parlour where you can get your dog beautified or you can choose to DIY in the dog wash out the front. Once your pooch has had their makeover, why not treat them and yourself to a little treat in the dog friendly cafe that is inside the store?
Nest Cafe serves a small selection of muffins, sandwiches and rolls along with coffee and cool drinks. You will be enjoying your refreshments with dinosaurs, lizards enormous frogs and one massive king kong! These huge fibreglass creatures are scattered throughout the cafe, store and grounds. So now you can say to your kids that they have been to the museum to.
Children of all ages will love a visit to Kellyville Pets and I'm sure you will to. It is easy to spend a few hours wandering this store taking in all of the sights, sounds and smells and who knows, you may even end up with another family member to take home!
I agree that this is a great pet store! I love the fish section and can spend ages there alone.
Tell me, does it still have the café?
Thanks for a great write-up. I could see myself, during my last visit, in those areas you described so well!
