Even if you can't dance- that doesn't mean you shouldn't
Kellehers Dance Academy (known as KDA) is owned & operated by Megen Kelleher and has been in practice ever since 2001. The company teaches, improves and offers a fun experience to a variety of ages from 2 years old through to seniors. Classes range from skills in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Contemporary Dance, Singing & Storytelling.

It is a fantastic social way for people of all ages to join like-minded persons and embrace their love of dance and performing. KDA is more of a very large family than dance company. The dancers and performers of this troupe are friendly, very talented and welcoming to all new and old members of KDA.

The teachers, under Megen's guidance provide a fun and educational lesson every time to ensure that students get the maximum benefit out of every class. Megen has loved and been doing dancing ever since she was three years old and her passion always comes out in classes and gets all the kids and adults moving! It is a wonderful family business that for me when I was young helped me to; be comfortable on stage, come out of my very shy bubble, enjoy exercise and being active, learn new things and make friends all at the same time.

Below is an outline of the classes and groups you are able to join into (fitting the requirements):

Mummy & Me Classes
This class is for Mums and children aged 2 years and entails Ballet, Jazz, Singing and Storytelling. It is a great social way for mums and kids to meet other people, spend time with their little ones and also be there if they're not quite ready to start dancing on their own just yet. For the boys just a black shirt and shorts are fine and girls can wear a ballet outfit of their favourite fairy dress!

Tiny Tots 1
This class is for children aged 3 turning 4 and it focuses on Ballet, Jazz & Singing. This class is aimed to make all the students have a fun time, step out on their own and learn how to follow directions.

Tiny Tots 2
For children aged 4 turning 5. The second level of Tiny Tots begins to further enhance the student's skill in Ballet & Jazz and introduces them to Musical Theatre. The children will study the first level of BBO (Pre-syllabus ballet) and have the option to partake in their first exam.

Junior Program
Intended for children ages 5 & 6, this is a 1.5 hour class that focuses on Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre and gives your child the option of doing pre-primary Ballet (5 years old) & primary Ballet (6 years old) with the BBO Ballet exam. In the focus of Jazz they also have the chance to sit the CSTD's Primary Modern Jazz exam at 6 years old.

7 years & over Program
This program is made into individual classes specifying in Jazz, Ballet & Tap with the option of doing Acrobatics, Contemporary and Musical Theatre for ages 7 .

Acrobatics
This program is new to KDA in 2016, the classes are broken up into Beginner and Intermediate and will improve skills or begin new ones in Acrobatics. This class is based on skill level rather than age and applications will consider this when placing students in one class or the other.

Musical Theatre
This program is broken into two levels; Junior (7-10 years) and Senior (11 years and over). The class consists of Vocal training as well as Acting and dancing skills. There is one requirement for this class that the student will be undertaking Jazz lessons through the week as this is the main style that is used in the program.

Junior and Senior Special Needs

Specifically designed for children and adults with special needs, this class is based on having fun and having the students enjoy themselves and participate in both singing and dancing.

Adult Jazz & Tap classes
As you can probably take from the title this is for older students who wish to take their passion for Jazz and Tap further while still surrounded in a social and friendly group-based class. It's a bit of fun and great exercise for adults to join in on.

I have so many fond memories of being involved in Kellehers Dance Academy when I was a little girl and would never let the opportunity go to spread the word about the fantastic family-orientated company. So for a bit of exercise, to make new friends, learn new skills and get to showcase it all of at the end of year concert; contact KDA today or visit their website or Facebook page to enrol. You definitely won't regret it!
