Keeping chickens in your backyard may register a nostalgic moment for some, when life was simpler, more sustainable, and everything you needed you produced or grew in your backyard. Sustainability and being environmentally conscious is even more important today, hence these sustainable workshops funded by Campbelltown City Council. It's a great way to learn responsible use and protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices. Environmental stewardship is based on a land ethic - dealing with man's relation to land and to the animals and plants which grow upon it.

Take advantage of this fun FREE workshop ( registration required first) at the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, 1 Mount Annan Drive, Mount Annan on Saturday 9 February 2019 from 10am to 12pm and learn how to keep chooks in your backyard. They make for a great sustainable pet that eats kitchen scraps, supplies you with fresh eggs and they fertilise your garden. Plus the children would love them. Learn how to raise healthy chooks at home, about their care, behaviour, diet and disease prevention as well as the best way to house and feed your chickens.
