Children Need Books
children's literacy, author signings, keeping books alive, literacy events, australian children's literacy board, ford street publishing, books for kids, articles by michellina van loder

On Friday, 30 May 2014, come and join the lively discussion and debate by renowned children's authors, and specialists interested in supporting children's literacy. This is an all-day event, broken up into 45 minute time slots where you will be informed and inspired with the latest news and ideas delivered by some of the best in the industry.

For those interested, this a professional development seminar aimed at people who are passionate about literacy for children: parents, writers, librarians, primary and secondary teachers and literacy support professionals: all are welcome.

Come and network with others; coffee and tea will be provided on arrival; you will be able to buy books from the specialist book stall, onsite; and you will have the opportunity to choose from a selection of books authored by some of the speakers, themselves, while also relishing the opportunity to get your new books signed! With lucky door prizes and handouts, this is a day you won't want to miss. At the end you will receive a PD certificate of attendance; and of course, you will also get to mingle with like-minded individuals. You will also be able to cherry pick from a cornucopia of great ideas to implement in the classroom, and beyond. Oh, and you'll be advised of the availability of author visits, too.

Kevin Burgemeestre, MC Gary Crew: The Author, The Book and the Teacher: A question of relevance; Launch of Gary Crew and Naomi Turvey's The Cuckoo; Meredith Costain: Keeping it Real – Narrative non-fiction writing workshop;
