Ba amazed at what is to be discovered at the Kedron Carnival

Great news for everybody who can get to the inner northern suburbs. The Kedron State School, Leckie Road, Kedron is throwing its monster Kedron Carnival on Saturday, 25 July 2015 from 10am until 3pm.

Entry is FREE.

This will be your opportunity to have the entire extended family entertained, amused, fed and watered for the whole day, well, between 10.00am and 3.00pm anyway.

There are going to be carnival games, crazy hair and craft activities and, best of all for the under 8's, the baby animal farm.

Then there's also going to be the teacups, a jumping castle, the high flyer, a rock wall and, just for a bit more excitement, the giant slide will be back again this year. And how incredible is this? There is going to be a mechanical bull taking on all comers wishing to test their cowboy and cowgirl skills.

Ride armbands will be available on the day for $30. You will also be able to get single ride tickets from the ride ticket tent on carnival day for $5 each and entry to the baby animal farm (for under 8's only) will be $4 per child.

The inaugural Kedron Start School Paper Plane Competition starts at 10.30am in the hall. Whether you're a master paper plane engineer or a pilot in the making, for a gold coin donation, you can design and make your own paper plane, launch it in flight and you will win a prize so you can afford to be creative with your design. Competition takes off (pun intended) at 10.30am in the school hall. Challenge your friends and be the Kedron State School's first champion paper plane pilot.

The stalls this year have surpassed themselves. They're going to be selling bargains that will include, pre-loved books, show bags, cakes, sweets and craft plus lots, lots more. Get in early as all this good stuff is going to go quickly.

The big attraction among the stalls will be the plant stall. If your garden is lacking a little colour then you'll be able to get it back on track and, at the same time, save your pennies. All the plants will be priced to sell as they have all been grown by the Green Thumbs in the school community or they've been donated. With bargains like these they don't last long so get in early.

Keep your eyes peeled for the upcycled coffee bags of basil organically grown from seed in Kedron these are ready for the kitchen and completely pesticide free. Every bag sold comes with a perfect pesto recipe and all this for $5 each. You don't need to be told again – get in early!

The main stage at the carnival will host the Monster Raffle draw which is going to include a signed Mike Hussey cricket bat. Dads, I'm sure your kids would love that so get those tickets for the kids. I'm thinking though for something as valuable as that, when the kids win it, they might have to hang it in your study at home.

There's only one bat but don't despair. Stacks of donations have been received from local businesses providing some lovely items and awesome vouchers to be raffled on the day. Prizes include a baked and decorated masterpiece by Catherine Rutherford of Wonderful Cakes valued at $300. There will also be opportunities to win a trip to Sea World, a canoe or a BMX bike!

If you miss out on one raffle, you're sure to win the next so keep on buying those tickets.

At 1.30pm there is going to be some real action at the main stage. The very popular Classroom Art Auction will be kicking off. For this auction each classroom has created a masterpiece to sell off to the highest bidder. The action really gets underway as the kids beg their parents and carers to buy their class artwork as the bidding heats up.

A fabulous line-up of entertainment is on its way to the Kedron Carnival so come along to hear some great tunes. Here's the skinny on when the action will be taking place:

10.00 Kedron State School and Wooloowin State School Concert Band
10.15 Official opening
10.30 Kedron State School Strings
10.50 Cake decoration competition winners
11.10 Wavell State High School Stage Band
12.00 Kedron Idol finalists
12.20 Kedron State High School soloists
12.55 Wonderful Cakes raffle
1.00 Kedron State School Choirs
1.30 Classroom masterpiece art auction
2.30 Monster raffle
2.45 Kedron State High School World Ensemble
3.15 Cent auction winners

There will come a time during the day when you are just going to have to take a break and put your feet up for a bit. Why not do that in the Carnival's fantastic chill out zone? As you rest enjoy something from the yummy range of food and drinks on sale at the Café and Aussie BBQ. There will be sweets, snow cones, potato slinkies, hot chips, burgers, sausages and more. We would love to see you there!

If the excitement is getting a little too much, and you need something stronger, you can always have a drink at Coconut Joe's Tiki Bar. Coconut Joe's will be open for everybody who's 18 years or older from lunch until early evening.

The 2015 Kedron Carnival is presented by the Kedron State School P&C Association with much appreciated help from parents, friends, local businesses and community organisations. The Carnival is the main event in the school's annual fundraising and all the profits are going to resources and initiatives to help present and future students at Kedron State School. Join in, help out and have a great day.
