An exhibition featuring one of the most prominent and prolific artists KAWS (Brian Donnelly) is currently on display at National Gallery of Victoria.
KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness will be on show until 13 April 2020.
KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness celebrates generosity, support for others and the deep need we have for companionship. KAWS reminds us we need one another and that life should be lived as compassionately as possible to combat this 'Age of Loneliness', in the face of fear and hatred.
This exhibition follows KAWS's recent solo presentations at Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (2016), the Yuz Museum Shanghai and the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (2017) and the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Foundation (2019).
A range of KAWS's artistic output of 25 years features more than 100 works including iconic paintings reappropriating pop-culture figures to his more recent large-scale abstract works, and an impressive collection of his celebrated sculptural figures.
On display in NGV's Federation Court, is the 7-metre monumental sculpture, GONE which is KAWS's largest bronze sculpture to date.
His collaborations with other artists are explored and those with major brands are on display. There's also a dedicated pop-up shop.
Presented in conjunction with major exhibition, starring KAWS's character BFF,
KAWS: PLAYTIME is a
FREE and immersive exhibition for families encouraging creativity and exploration through hands-on activities and interactive experience.
Celebrate one of the world's most resonant artists at the
KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness exhibition at NGV until 13 April 2020.
