The Blue Mountains are renowned for breath-taking views and beautiful bushwalks, but what about when its too dark to see the spectacular scenery?

Katoomba 's main street is filled with cafes and restaurants that come alive at night, particlarly on the weekends. Cafe Zuppa has a vibrant atmosphere, with a reasonably priced menu, including a selection of vegetarian dishes. The Avalon , with great views and ecclectic furniture and artwork, is a slightly more upmarket option, but retaining a friendly and casual service.

There are a number of bars and pubs to choose from. Champagne Charlies can be found inside the iconic Carrington Hotel , offering the usual range of drinks plus a wide selection of cocktails such as the Femme Fatale and the Lady Carrington.

Station Bar , a newer venue already popular with the locals, offers a warm atmosphere complete with woodfire pizzas. Old City Bank Bar, reminiscent of an old English pub and the Carrington Sports Bar are other options.

The Edge Cinema complex, a five minute walk from the train station, provides another more family-friendly option for evening entertainment.

Luckily for tourists, there are a range of accommodation options quite close to the centre of town, so stumbling to bed is not a huge problem.
