Singer Katie Melua is not letting the coronavirus lockdown stop her performing live for her millions of fans around the world. The 36-year-old will headline her first global livestream concert from London's Rivoli Ballroom on December 17, 2020.

There will be no audience in attendance and the show will be time-zoned to the UK and Europe, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. It will not be available on-demand after it has taken place. Tickets can be bought from katiemelua.lnk.to/Live .

The setlist will include tracks from Katie's latest release, Album No. 8, alongside some back catalogue favourites. On stage with Katie will be her brother Zurab on guitar, Tim Harries on bass, Mark Edwards on keys, Joe Yoshida on drums and Nina Harries on double bass and backing vocals.

Katie says: "Our choice of venue is the beautiful Rivoli Ballroom in the heart of London. Opened in 1913 and a famous dancehall in the 1950s, the building was the setting for the video for my recent single, A Love Like That. I had the pleasure of performing on its spectacular stage for the shoot and I can't wait to return."

The A Love Like That video, the first single from Album No. 8, was directed by Charlie Lightening, who will also direct the livestream concert.

For the livestream, Katie has partnered with Driift , an artist-first promoter and producer whose recent ticketed livestream events have included concerts by Laura Marling, Nick Cave, Niall Horan, Dermot Kennedy, Biffy Clyro and James Bay."Since seeing the very first Driift show, Laura Marling at Union Chapel, I've been hell-bent on finding a way to bring our team together in a gorgeous setting to play live for our fans," Katie says.

Katie is one of Britain's most successful musical artists, having received over 56 platinum awards. Originally from Tbilisi, Georgia, she and her family moved to the UK when she was eight. She released her debut album, Call Off The Search, at the age of 19. Her subsequent top 10 studio albums include Piece By Piece, Pictures, The House, Secret Symphony, Ketevan and In Winter. Her hit songs include Nine Million Bicycles, The Closest Thing to Crazy, Perfect World and Wonderful Life.

Her latest release, Album No. 8, was recorded in London and Georgia, and features The Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gori Women's Choir, with whom Katie collaborated on 2016's In Winter. The choir first toured the UK with Katie in 2016 – see my Weekend Notes review of their Birmingham Symphony Hall show here .
