Lionel's Melbourne is set to dress up and party down from Monday, 3 September until Sunday, 9 September with Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW).

MSFW is about fashion's recent history , the rise of global brands , runway shows and visionaries , the business of fashion and their collective influence on the Melbourne fashion scene. MSFW is also about showcasing the latest local trends at City Square , the 4 fresh faces , emerging designers and their exhibitions and fashion that is Made-in-Melbourne.


I had the opportunity to review some of the talent creating fashion in Melbourne including up-and-coming young designer Kathryn Beker whose accolades included a place as a finalist in Italy's annual International Talent Support competition for her innovative capsule collection and the Young Designer of the Year Award in 2012. She trained for a number of years, designing and creating one-off outfits for a number of Mimco's parades and campaigns shot in exotic locations from Shanghai to Paris before taking the leap in 2010 to launch her own label. Her collections feature limited edition, ready-to-wear garments all designed and crafted in Melbourne. She uses Couture techniques to meld delicate materials and style elements with strong statements


Kathryn is looking forward to revealing a selection of new pieces from her label's upcoming collection at the Made In Melbourne runway show as part of MSFW where customers will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase limited-edition pieces before they even hit the shops. MIM is supported by Kwencher, Nudie Juice, Hair By Ciccone, Bodyography, RMK, Moxy Tampons, Time Out Magazine, Ichu Jewelry, Canvas Marketing and Fjorde Magazine.
