Even before Kate Ceberano stepped onto the stage, she had the audience captivated.

Kate and her band
The venue was buzzing with excitement as patrons filed down the aisles to take their seats. They chatted with anticipation of the musical event that lay ahead, while absorbing the cabaret feel of the music playing within the theatre. A full band ensemble was ready to perform and the eager crowds were ready to listen.

Electric double bass
Opening with a simple beat played on the electric double bass, the rest of the band members strutted out and took up their positions. Kate casually stepped out of the shadows in a beautifully fitted flamenco inspired outfit, matching headwear and a beaming smile on her face.

Kate is all smiles
Ceberano's Kensal Road Tour was going to take the audience on a musical journey through her career, from her early beginnings with I'm Talking, through to her time as a solo singer and as a stage performer on big hit musicals, to her current role as mother, wife, song writer and performer. You could just feel that the multi-faceted performer was going to put on an outstanding show for her audience.
In between her sultry flamenco moves, she introduced her band and opened her set with a rendition of the
'Love Don't Live Here Anymore'. The crowd erupted with cheers and claps as she hit the high noted chorus of the song that rocked up the charts when she was the lead singer of I'm Talking back in the 80s.

Belting out the hits
Past hits like
'Brave',
'Pash' and
'I Don't Know How To Love Him' were popular. Her new songs were listened to with delight as she sang them faultlessly and passionately.
In between songs, her banter with the audience was genuine and her fun-loving and bubbly personality exuded love and comfort. Her years of experience and professionalism brought a natural feel to the stage.
Audience participation was welcomed and this made the crowds feel like they were part of Kate's extended family. We were invited to join in with choruses, singing rhythms and clapping beats.
After a quick costume change into a black and white number, Kate headed over to the drums to show off her drumming talent. She belted out songs while smashing it on the drums in an awesome display of her versatility and musicality.
At the end of the set, the audience was left wanting more. Offering a standing ovation as a sign of their appreciation, Kate was urged to step on stage once more. This time she sauntered over to the piano to play a song for the audience. She again brought out her backing singers and the rest of the band members for one last rendition of
'I Want You Back'.
The concert closes again, this time with smiles and applause and with the promise of meeting Kate outside to sign autographs for then and to take photos with them. Kate stated that she is now 'satisfied as a musician' and the audience was left with the same satisfied feeling.
