Get keen Queenslanders! The Kate Bush Bash is back! It's a massive celebration of iconic songstress Kate Bush and it's at Jubilee Hotel from 6pm on Saturday 15th of July. The bash happens right after The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever, where fans are encouraged to come in red dresses and recreate the lovely choreography from the Wuthering Heights music video.

I had a chat with the producer of the events, Kristian Fletcher, whose efforts in celebrating Kate Bush have even been mentioned in the book Waiting for Kate Bush.

KM: Is this the first ever Kate Bush Bash?

KF: I was last at the Jubilee Hotel in 2005 when I ran the launch of Kate's Aerial album in conjunction with EMI. This year's Bash will combine all the elements of previous Kate events I have run. I like to mix it up each year and change the format. Giving fans exposure to every aspect of Kate's work.

KM: What's your favourite Kate Bush song?

KF: Wuthering Heights. So as you can imagine, this day is a dream come true! In early 2000, I caught a re-run of Kate's Top of the Pops performance of Wuthering Heights on the ABC. One month later, I was studying the book Wuthering Heights at university and our tutor played the song to the class. I was hooked! I rushed out, found a CD of The Kick Inside and played the song on loop for a day.

KM: How long does the event run?

KF: Join us at the Jubilee Hotel from 6pm with Kate Bush music and video clips, followed by sets of live performances over the course of the night. Finishing around 10pm (after being in the park all afternoon, we're usually all Kate Bush-ed out by then!)

KM: What kind of live performances do you have in store?

KF: Meece and Mark will return to perform an entertaining set of some of Kate's quirkiest songs. Utilising props and costumes, Meece and Mark are definitely a highlight of each event. I'm excited to welcome on board Michael Curd who will perform a selection of Kate's piano songs, with live accompaniment.

About Kate Bush

In 1978, at the tender age of 19, Kate Bush burst onto the charts with her debut single Wuthering Heights. She continues to make her original style of art pop music to this day. Some of her most recognisable singles are Babooshka, Running Up That Hill and King of the Mountain. Kate has been an influence on a wide range of artists and has enjoyed widespread critical acclaim.
